2015 Berkeley County Rescue Squad Dinner

On December 10th (Thursday), the Berkeley County Rescue Squad held its annual Christmas Party at Wampee in Pinopolis, S.C.

As usual, the food was amazing, and it was a great opportunity to mingle with the other agencies, like the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, that we work so closely with in times of need.

We also recognized several members within the squad and community who've gone above the call of duty to lend their services to the public.

Below, we've included some pictures from last night's event. Every year, they seem to get bigger and better.
Pictured: Chief Salisbury recognizes Michael Widener with the "Hero of the Year" award.  A few months ago, Michael was working a birthday event at Cypress Gardens with he happened to notice from a distance a little girl (who was left unattended) fall into a large ditch filled with several feet of water. Michael immediately ran to where the little girl fell, got into water which came up to his waist...and saved the little girl before she drowned. Had he not been at the right place at the right time and acted quickly, the little girl may not be alive today.
Raymond Owens receives the 'Chief's Award' for taking on the responsibility of the squad's fundraising committee.
Nikki Gaskins receives the 'Chief's Award' for taking on the responsibility of the squad's grant committee.
Tim Anderson receives the 'Squad Member of the Year' Award
Liz Walker receives the 'Rookie of the Year' Award
Approximately 50 people attended the dinner.
Berkeley County Rescue Squad Chief Bill Salisbury (aka-Berkeley County Coroner) addresses the guests before dinner was served.
BCSO Chief Deputy Mike Cochran addresses the crowd.

Pictured: Dan Moon and Nikki Gaskins: Dan helped launched our Catfish Tournament more than 20 years ago. It is the squad's biggest fundraiser. The money raised goes toward keeping the squad in operation. Every year, Dan M-C's the event. Nikki handles the squad's social media accounts, website and media related requests.

This year we conducted our first raffle drawing. For just $1, participants could purchase a raffle for a chance to win a rifle valued at $300 from Carolina Arms & Ammo. The fundraiser was a success--generating approximately $1,600 for the squad. During the dinner, we held the drawing. Congrats to the winner!

THE END!

WE CAN'T WAIT 'TIL NEXT YEAR'S DINNER!
