9-11 Heroes Run (Charleston)--Help represent our team!

The Berkeley County Rescue Squad is excited to announce that we are one of two beneficiaries of this year's  9/11 Heroes Run - Charleston, SC .  This means a portion of the proceeds generated from the event will go toward helping the squad with being able to continue to provide its services to the community 24/7 and FREE of charge.  Early-bird registration for the event is now open. Berkeley County Rescue Squad Saves Father & Son From Sinking Boat

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.--What was supposed to fun day of fishing on Lake Moultrie turned into anything but for a father and his young son. Shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, the Berkeley County Rescue Squad was dispatched to the area of Blacks Camp in Cross for a report of a sinking boat. While out on the lake with his young son, the father's small bass boat began taking on water. That's when he called 9-1-1 for help from his cell phone. The rescue squad quickly responded and were assisted by DNR and Cross Rural Fire Department. Thirty minutes into the search, the Berkeley County Rescue Squad located the sinking boat. By this time, the inside of the father and son's boat was about two to three feet deep in water. Squad members picked up the father and son and safely carried them to Blacks Camp. EMS was on hand to make sure the father and son were okay.

Berkeley County Rescue Squad Locates Missing Boaters

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.--Two boaters who went missing for several hours were safely located by first responders early Sunday morning. Around 3:30 a.m., the Berkeley County Rescue Squad, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and Pimlico Fire Department were dispatched to the Cypress Gardens boat landing to search for the missing men. Loved ones of the two boaters reportedly became concerned after they failed to return home Saturday evening. Less than an hour into the search, the Berkeley County Rescue Squad located the missing men near Pimlico. The men stated they were unfamiliar with the area, got lost, became low on gas and their phones stopped working and couldn’t call for help. After locating the two men, the Berkeley County Rescue Squad made sure they got back safely to the boat landing.

Berkeley County Rescue Works To Free Man In Highway 41 Truck Accident

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.--The Berkeley County Rescue Squad and several other first responders extricated a man from a dump truck after it crashed in Huger early Monday morning. Berkeley County Rescue Squad Chief Bill Salisbury stated that the man's injuries, fortunately, were not life-threatening. He was transported to a nearby hospital. The accident occurred on Highway 41 near Jenny's Farm Lane shortly after 7 a.m. The crash reportedly happened when a tire blew out causing the driver to slam into several trees. Officials say the driver was trapped inside the truck for about an hour and a half until help arrived on scene.

Berkeley County Rescue Squad Receives Grant From The Exchange Club Of Charleston

On April 1st, the Berkeley County Rescue Squad official received a very kind grant from the Exchange Club of Charleston. We were one of 86 organizations throughout the lowcountry to receive a grant The rescue squad received $4,000 from the Exchange Club of Charleston. The money will go toward purchasing a new radio to communicate easily with other first responding agencies. All together the Exchange Club of Charleston gave away $789,786 from money raised from the annual Coastal Carolina Fair held in Ladson, S.C. We are very honored to have received this grant, and we can't thank the Exchange Club of Charleston enough. We appreciate all you do! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Berkeley County Rescue Squad Recovers Drowning Victim's Body

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of Sunday’s drowning victim on the Cooper River near Pimlico. According to Coroner Bill Salisbury, the victim has been identified as 21-year-old Hunter Morris of Goose Creek. On Sunday around, 2:30 p.m. the Berkeley County Rescue Squad was dispatched to the Cooper River near Pimlico to a boating accident. A fisherman pulled a female out of the water and she was transported by EMS to a local hospital. Missing from the boat was the operator was the young man. A search was conducted using boats, aircraft, and divers. A Berkeley County Sheriff diver l ocated Morris’ body at 5:45 pm. His death has been ruled an accidental drowning by Coroner Salisbury.

Rescue Squad Celebrates Milestone, Honors Deputies Shot In The Line Of Duty

As always, the food was amazing. We also celebrated a huge milestone. It's hard to believe, but we've been in operation for 50 years now and still going strong. We hope to be around serving the community for many more years to come! In attendance at last night's dinner were also two very special guests: Cpl. Kimber Gist and Captain Will Rogers with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. Both were shot in the line of duty nine months apart from one another. Kimber & Will share a hug. Chief Bill Salisbury and the rest of the rescue squad honored them both with the "Hero of the Year" award.
