21st annual catfish tournament fast approaching!
MONCKS CORNER, S.C.—Every year, the Berkeley Co. Rescue Squad answers dozens of calls, including but not limited to water rescues, land searches and traffic accidents. “The rescue squad is an all volunteer organization. We don’t charge a fee for our services,” said Bill Salisbury, who is not only the chief of the squad but also the county coroner. In order to provide its services to the community, the rescue squad relies heavily on donations. On April 26th the squad will host its biggest fundraising event, the 21st annual Moncks Corner Medical Family Open Catfish Tournament. “This fundraiser is a very big part of our budget,” stressed Salisbury. The money raised will go toward purchasing new equipment, maintaining current equipment and daily operations of the squad.
